From Karachi to Windsor

Hamid Ali was born in Karachi, Pakistan, in 1969. The son of a racehorse trainer, he became a jockey at a young age before family friend Jaja Mian introduced him to polo. In 1987 he came to the UK to work for Sheikh Mohamed, patron of Palmera Polo Team, managing the team until 2010. His playing career has spanned Pakistan and the UK, including charity matches alongside members of the British Royal Family, and a peak handicap of four goals.

In 2008 he qualified as an HPA-recognised riding and polo instructor. At HK Polo School he shares that experience with beginners, nervous riders, children and experienced players, choosing horses to suit different abilities.
